Personality Disorder Training

A key element of the Personality Disorder Strategy is to deliver training with the following aims:

  • to improve service users experience
  • to improve attitudes/behaviour in working with personality disorder
  • Develop staff clinical skills in working with personality disorder

Training within the Trust

To date a number of training events have been completed with various clinical teams and units. These have ranged from short (1-2 hour) training on some key issues in PD to one day workshops focusing on personality disorder awareness training.

We have also recently introduced the Knowledge and Understanding Framework (KuF) 3 day training on Personality Disorder Awareness targeted at the Personality Disorder Link Workers in each team/clinical area. Further information about KUF training can be found at http://www.personalitydisorder.org.uk/training/kuf.

Training to External Agencies

Members of the team have also delivered personality disorder awareness training to a number of external agencies in both statutory and third sector organisations. We have some limited scope to offer this on a costed basis to local organisations.
