The Community Alcohol Team is a city wide service that
provides high quality integrated treatment for higher risk and
dependant drinkers, supporting reduction, stabilisation or
abstinence.
The service provides a range of evidence based, effective
care planned alcohol interventions in order to meet the assessed
needs, aiming to empower service users to aspire to and
maintain either a reduction in, stabilisation of or abstinence from
alcohol.
It also aims to provide service users with information,
advice, support and referral for better health and wellbeing, as
well as providing advice to family members and unpaid carers
about their right to a carer's needs assessment and signposting to
services for unpaid carers.
The service also works to support people in addressing
their offending history and reduce the likelihood of re-offending
for these individuals and assist adults who are parents/carers
or pregnant women and their partners in identifying situations
where action is needed to address the consequences of
alcoholism.
The team recently launched the 'Drink Smart' campaign to mark
Alcohol Awareness Week in 2011. To find out more click
