Anson Road is a 24-hour community rehabilitation service for
adult males with mental health needs. The service aims to provide
recovery focused support to enable service users to develop,
enhance and sustain life skills and coping strategies which will
enable the individual to achieve greater independence and quality
of life.
Anson Road is located in central Manchester close to the
Central Manchester Hospitals site and the Universities. The
unit has 17 beds and support is provided by a team of Mental Health
Nurses, Support Workers and an Occupational Therapist.
The support provided focuses on engagement in the process of
recovery and what that means for the individual, enabling them to
identify what their recovery goals are and what support is needed
to achieve them.
Anson Road aims to provide a relaxed and positive atmosphere
were people can engage with staff and other service users and have
access to a range of group and individual activities to encourage
the development and enhancement of life skills. The average
length of stay at the unit is 18 months and during this time the
staff team will provide support in the following areas:
- Self care & looking after the home
- Diet, nutrition & cooking
- Managing medication & treatment
- Education & employment opportunities
- Coping with mental health needs
- Budgeting & welfare benefits
- Developing interests & building social networks
Referrals for the service can be made by care co-ordinators and
inpatient staff employed by the Trust. Once referred an assessment
will be carried out and the outcome feedback to the referrer and
service user within two weeks of the assessment being
completed.
