Every year we hold an
event to thank our members for their support and showcase fun and
simple ways to improve physical health and mental wellbeing in
Manchester.
Our first event in September 2010 was called Rhythm in Mind and
was held at the beautiful Gorton Monastery. Hundreds of people came
along to watch some fantastic displays by professional dancers
before taking part in line and circle dancing.
Attendees were also given the chance to find out about
straightforward ways to improve their wellbeing and we received
lots of really positive feedback about how the event had given
people ideas that they could carry into their daily lives.
For last year's event we wanted to carry on the theme of
physical activity but give it a slightly different twist. What we
came up with was TRY-athlon! at Wythenshawe Forum in October 2011.
The event gave people the chance to try out a number of different
exercises such as Nordic Walking, rowing and Zumba. Attendees were
also given a week's free pass to any Manchester City Council gym
and we were really pleased at the number of people who came along
and got involved.
We are currently planning our next event and will be sending out
details later in the year. We're not sure what the theme will be
yet but we can guarantee that it will be free and fun!
