Equality and Diversity and Human Rights is central to everything
the Trust does, whether considering the needs of service users,
carers, the communities of Manchester, the workforce or partners
from the statutory, voluntary and private sectors.
The Trust is committed to the principles of the NHS Constitution
which clearly support Equality and Diversity and Human Rights,
acknowledging that "Everyone Counts". Our values are about respect
and dignity, improving lives through high quality care and
responding to difference with compassion.
The Trust also recognises its legal obligations to comply with
the Equality
Act 2010 and to work to tackle discrimination and
inequality.
We have developed a multi-faith calendar to
make service users and staff aware of the various
religious events and festivals throughout the year. Click here to view
it.
Delivering Equality and Diversity and Human Rights across the
Trust
In order to ensure that Equality and Diversity and Human Rights
is delivered throughout the Trust the Director of Nursing and
Therapies provides Executive Leadership and the Trust also has a
very well established Equality and Diversity and Human Rights
Steering group to support the implementation of the Single Equality
Scheme.
The Trust has also committed to improving its performance on
Equality and Diversity and Human Rights by taking part the NHS
North West's Equality Performance Improvement Self Assessment.
To build capacity within the Equality and Diversity Team the
Trust has recruited a number of champions for the different areas
of Equality, and individual groups have also been established for
each area.
To ensure that staff are equipped to respond to the diverse
communities the Trust serves, mandatory equality and diversity
training is provided and all staff are required to read and
complete a self assessment handbook and workbook.
The Equality and Diversity team make every effort to respond to
all concerns about Equality and Diversity and Human Rights and will
continue to support the Trust values that "Everyone Counts",
regardless of whether they are service users, carers, staff, or
partners from the statutory, voluntary and private sectors.
